Conor McGregor Conor McGregor Update MMA LIFE SHOP

I have learned that you can?t honestly give yourself to anyone unless your needs are met first. Initially it sounds selfish, but it?s a healthy kind of selfishness. In the safety briefing before a flight, the attendant reminds you to fasten your own oxygen mask before you help someone else. You will be in a much better position to help people in your black belt school if you are grossing $30,000 per month, because you are taking care of yourself first, rather than grossing $10,000 because you are ?helping the children.?

The reason you sign the lease, risk your money, risk lawsuits, risk losing everything is not to help the children. The reason is to build wealth for your family.

This is a key mindset, and the top black belt school owners are crystal clear on it.

The purpose of your school is to build wealth for your family and to maintain a career in the martial arts. You accomplish this by becoming the best teacher in your town and having a strong business system to support your teaching, so that you can reach and help more people. You create wealth by helping people.

Imagine you are the owner of a television network. You don?t take a risk like that just to have shows that will help the children. You offer some educational programs in the public interest and others that are pure entertainment. But you bought the network to create wealth for your family. You do that by hiring the best talent, equipment, and programming possible.

This is especially true when you have a family. It?s simply not fair to drag your spouse and children through the life of a martial artist if you are not going to build a future for them.

The purpose of launching your martial arts business is to send your kids to good schools, to provide your spouse with a feeling of security and certainty that things are going to be OK financially and to give you the opportunity to retire in dignity. You accomplish this by being the best martial arts school owner and instructor in your town. Once you adopt this attitude, business becomes less stressful, because it?s easier to make decisions when you have Clarity of Purpose.

Chase your passion but don't chase away profits or your families' future doing so.

As Abraham Lincoln put it, ?We can?t help the poor by becoming one of them.? I heard one of my mentors, a plastic surgeon, speak on the phone with a patient who asked for a discount or payment terms. He said, ?Miss, this is how I earn my income. You can make payments and, when they are all done, we can do the surgery; otherwise, we?re going to have to wait until you can afford it.? That is Clarity of Purpose. Plastic surgery, like martial arts, is a choice.

Western society will never take martial arts seriously as a business, activity, or potential career if we all live hand to mouth. How can you teach the success life skills so popular today if you have never experienced success as a teacher? Would you want someone to teach you how to run a martial arts school who has never even owned a business, much less a martial arts school? I hope not.

Cardinal Rule ?Never sacrifice the needs of your family for your students.

The most successful school owners are crystal clear that the purpose of their school is to build wealth for their families. Create profit ? not poverty ? from your passion.

MMA ‘The Hurt Business’ Trailer: The Art And Brutal Cost Of Mixed Martial Arts MMA LIFE SHOP

Step two: Separate the pain from you

Note: Part One can be found at the Personal Development - The teachings of the Urban Monk website.

Once you separate your pain from the injury, the next step is to separate your self from the pain, and therefore your reaction. Often your reaction is well within your control once you see it from this different standpoint.

Let?s say my opponent hits me in the liver, and it nearly folds me in half; it affects my breathing and it hurts to move. If I am identified with the pain, the reaction will be much worse. I might quit, I might run.

But if I see the pain as something that happens ? just a bodily sensation, like any other, then I have far greater control over my reaction. It is vital to see it as something that is in you, but not you. ?Pain shoots over my body? is different from ?pain shooting over me?.

So the key is to accept the injury, accept that it hurts, but know that you can control how you react to it, most of the time. (If you?re knocked out or your body is paralysed, then well, there?s nothing you can do.)

Note: If the injury is serious ? get to a hospital, don?t play macho man. I?m talking non-life threatening injuries here.

Step two for emotional pain

How about emotional pain? Going back to ?getting fired? example. Recognize that you now have to find another job. Start taking action, update your resume. Cut back on your spending until you get another source of income. You might feel sad, feel like a failure, or feel the fear of not being able to provide for your family. Recognising that is separate from you will make it much more manageable.

Now if it?s the first time it happens then it is forgivable to overreact to it. The first time I was punched in the liver, it was a whole new sensation and I didn?t know how to handle it. I lost all the fight in me ? I dropped to the canvas and struggled to breathe like beached whale. The first time I screwed up on the job in my teens I was upset by it as well.

Beyond the first couple of times, however, your reaction is just a conditioned habit ? and habits can be broken.

Observing and acknowledging it is central in various spiritual teachings ? there are a few articles in the Emotional Mastery at the Urban Monk website that deal with this.

Application

This can be hard to explain in words; my suggestion would be to keep this in mind, and then next time it happens, just know that it is not you. This can be hard, especially if it is intense, but it?s just a matter of experience.

Here?s a tip: Imagine you are playing a video game. Your character takes a massive hit; you lose half of your life bar. You acknowledge it, and decide to take a more cautious approach ? another wrong move and it?s game over. Most gamers won?t get depressed, cry, or quit playing the game simply because they?ve got half their vitality points left.

Resisting or fearing the pain makes it worse

Here?s a little tip; the more you fear it, the more it hurts. Try accepting the fear. Accept that life has its ups and downs. In combat sports, or martial arts, accept you will get hit ? even defensive masters will get hit.

If you resist the pain, you add to it. If you are afraid of the pain it hurts more. Accept the pain, and suddenly, this article will make sense ? it?s just something inside you, rather then some bad, fearful thing that happens to you.

More on fear

The more you fear something, the more you focus on it, and the more likely it is to happen. You hit what you aim for, isn?t that a universal truth? When you using a pistol for example, do you look at the tree and think ?I hope I don?t hit it??

If, after you lose your job, your thoughts are occupied with fear, and lack of money / security, what are you aiming for? If, in sparring, you are worried about losing, what are you inviting? There is much talk of the law of attraction / The Secret nowadays, but much it is just common sense, not mystical or mysterious.

How about pleasure?

While it might make sense to separate yourself from pain, what about pleasurable sensations? What will happen if you separate yourself from that? Contrary to logic, this practice can actually increase the pleasure.

More on this on the Urban Monk website.

Conor McGregor Conor McGregor still wants to fight at UFC 200 MMA LIFE SHOP

Gameness is a BJJ GI company that originated in Brazil and soon spread as a brand all over the world and can be seen being worn by Pros and amateurs alike in gyms and at competitions. Gameness GIs are made to a very high standard and they use some of the best materials including pearl weave cotton and also their very own platinum weave cotton. Gameness employ professional designers to brand their GIs so the designs and graphics used make their GIs some of the best looking GIs on the market. Gameness produces some very nice GIs and below we will discuss their top GIs.

The Gameness Elite is their flagship model and is one of the best BJJ GI available in the world today and features some very nice additions. The Elite GI jacket is made from high quality pearl weave cotton that is light in weight but also very strong and durable. A nice addition to the Elite jacket is a rash guard lining. As far as I know Gameness are were the first BJJ GI company to have a rash guard lining in their GIs and it's a nice addition. It makes the GI very comfortable and helps prevent GI burns when you GI is rubbing on your skin. The GI jacket has branded patches on the shoulders, chest and back and also features branded tape inside the cuff of the sleeve and on the jacket skirt. The collar has a rubber insert that helps to keep the collars shape and also helps the GI dry faster. The trousers are made from rip stop cotton and are very light weight and the feature the games logo embroidered on the thigh and back of the lower leg. All in all the Gameness Elite is one of the best BJJ GI available but can be a bit expensive so if you can afford it then it's definitely a GI worth considering.

The Gameness Platinum weave BJJ GI is one of the best tournament grade GIs in the world. The platinum weave is Gameness's own style of weave and was developed just for this GI. It's a lot like a pearl weave in that it's strong and durable but it's also been pre shrunk and had extra thick rows of stitching making it even stronger and less likely to suffer any kind of shrinkage after washing. Gameness added an extra thick collar to make it even harder for an opponent to choke you with any collar chokes. The trousers are made from 8oz cotton and are very comfortable to wear and they feature reinforced stitching on all the major stress points. If you like you're GIs a little bit heavier than the standard GI and want a GI that's going last you a long time then this is the GI for you.

The Gameness feather BJJ GI is a very light BJJ GI that is ideal for competition or for hot summer days. It's made from 475 gram pearl weave cotton that is light weight but also very soft and supple making it very comfortable to wear. The GI is very light making it an ideal GI if you cut weight when you fight. The jacket is made from a single piece of material making it very strong and it features the gameness logo on the chest shoulders and on branded tape on the skirt. The collar is made from high quality rubber making the collar nice and stiff so it holds its shape after many washes. The trousers are made from military grade rip stop and feature reinforced knee area and reinforced stitching on all the major stress points. This BJJ GI is fully tournament legal making it the ideal GI for competitions but if like me you like to train in a light weight GI then it can also be used for every day training.

The Gameness pearl weave BJJ GI is a great all rounder that can be used for competitions or every day use. The GI jacket is made from 550 gram pearl weave cotton so is somewhere between a light weight GI and a heavy GI. This GI will last you an absolute lifetime because the pearl weave used on this GI is very durable. The collar is a stiff rubber collar that will hold its shape and because of the stiffness it also makes it hard for your opponent to choke you with collar chokes. The GI jacket has Gameness patches on the shoulders and chest and branded tape on the skirt. The trousers are made from very light rip stop cotton. This is one of most comfortable BJJ GIs I've ever tried and i would definitely recommend it.

MMA Fight Night, Heck Of A Night MMA LIFE SHOP

With the lack of big names that previous UFC Fight Nights have had in the past, many MMA fans looked past Wednesday?s Fight Night 11 in anticipation of UFC 76 on Saturday.

Unfortunately for those that decided not to tune in, you missed a hand full of exciting fights. Nate Quarry and Chris Leban were both on the brink of defeat in their fights, but both managed to dig deep and pull out surprising knockouts.

Kenny Florian continues to show his ever improving MMA game, finishing Din Thomas in a Rear Naked Choke in the 1st Round. Florian stated after the fight that he makes it a point to finish his fights, perhaps again taking another jab at current UFC Lightweight Champion Sean Sherk, who has won his last three fights by uneventful decisions.

This is the second time that Florian has made this comment after a fight, making a similar statement after his last victory over Alvin Robinson at UFC 73. ?Coincidentally,? Sherk had just Lay N? Prayed his way to a five round unanimous decision over Hermes Franca right before Florian?s fight. Thomas seemed to have hurt his knee when he shot on Florian, allowing Florian to set up the choke.

For those of you that missed it, here is a recap of the night's fights:

Undercard Bouts:

Dustin Hazelett beat Jonathan Goulet by an Armbar Submission at 1:14 in the 1st Round

Thiago Alves beat Kuniyoshi Hironaka by TKO due to strikes at 4:04 in the 2nd Round

Gray Maynard beat Joe Veres by TKO due to strikes at :09 seconds in the 1st Round

Cole Miller beat Leonard Garcia by Unanimous Decision (30-27x2, 29-28)

Luke Cummo beat Edilberto de Oliveira by TKO due to strikes at 1:45 in the 1st Round

Main Card Bouts:

Nate Quarry beat Pete Sell by TKO due to strikes at :44 seconds in the 3rd Round

Nate Diaz beat Junior Assuncao by a Guillotine Choke Submission at 4:10 in the 1st Round

Chris Leben beat Terry Martin by KO at 3:56 in the 3rd Round

Kenny Florian beat Din Thomas by a Rear Naked Choke Submission at 4:31 in the 1st Round
